Matthew launched the Brexit Big Band project on 29th March 2017, the same day that Theresa May triggered article 50 giving the UK a two year countdown to the day it is due to leave the EU. Since then then project has involved over a thousand contributors including musicians and singers from across Europe at numerous recording sessions from Madrid to Berlin, from London to Leipzig and finally in Rome in Nov 2018. In addition to this, the project has made recordings of all manner of activities that have been informed by the ever evolving day-to-day issues around the wider Brexit discussion, the sounds of someone swimming the English channel, an NHS hospital, a Welsh sheep farm, a WW2 biplane, somebody walking the entirety of the Northern Irish border, an a-z of endangered animals, a trumpet being deep fried in a fish and chip shop in Grimsby + a whole lot more.

Matthew is now locked away in the studio whilst he pieces together all of these different components to create a full body of work, ready to release it on March 29th 2019, the day that the UK will officially leave the EU. Watch this space…
